Welcome, everyone — thank you so much for visiting. I am pastel_piano, the author behind AUDIO STYLE, a site dedicated to compact, intimate Hi-Fi systems. Playing the piano, collecting classical music CDs, pure Hi-Fi, PC audio — music in all its forms is my passion. It was to bring all of these together into one place, a lifestyle resource centred on musical living, that I started AUDIO STYLE.

This is the secondary system in my own room. A compact, intimate arrangement built around the Swedish Audio Pro Image11 speakers on either side, paired with a British TAG McLaren 60i integrated amplifier and a C.E.C belt-drive CD player, the TL5100Z — a system put together with particular attention to the beauty of piano reproduction.

As Hi-Fi systems go, this is quite compact and relatively modest in cost — not far from a mini component system in scale — yet it delivers a clean, refined, Scandinavian-flavoured sound that never causes listening fatigue, and it serves as background music day and night without complaint. The footprint is no different from a mini system, yet the sound that emerges is in an entirely different class. Once you have grown accustomed to this kind of sound, there is simply no going back to a domestic mini system or a portable radio cassette player.
The black object sitting atop the C.E.C top-loading CD player is an Shun Mook Mpingo disc — a sort of ebony resonator. Affixing a few of them to the walls brings a noticeable improvement to the room acoustics.

I also have a living room system built around the Vienna Acoustics MOZART T-2. Going forward, I hope to introduce favourite CDs and trace the history of my Hi-Fi systems, little by little.
